Length

  • Typical CPD: Most teachers attend one off training days with limited impact on learning outcomes
  • Our model: Spaced learning, 1 hour sessions every 2 weeks for 6 months

Practical

  • Typical CPD: Involves little or no practise using real, curriculum-aligned lesson resources
  • Our model: Learn new skills by practising with curriculum-aligned lesson materials

Relevance

  • Typical CPD: Covers general ideas, and therefore little or no time is spent assessing pupil work
  • Our model: Focused on how pupils learn higher order skills through reading, writing and maths effectively 

Group size

  • Typical CPD: Usually involves listening to a presentation in a large group with some interactive activities
  • Our model: Collaborative learning in a group of 8 teachers, 2 from each school, facilitated by a practitioner

Delivery

  • Typical CPD: Specialised programmes usually take place outside school, involving travel and/or cover costs
  • Our model: First meeting in person, followed by a series of online webinars - no travel or cover costs

Cost

  • Typical CPD: Usually £200-300 per person per day for training that has limited impact on learning outcomes
  • Our model: £495 per teacher for 6 month programme to improve teaching practice & learning outcomes
